The Dish
Hello all. Happy to know you.
Here's what I know.
A certain Austin based director who divorced his wife and is shacking up with Rose McGowan just lost another Hollywood feature. He was demanding $100 Mil, the studio only wanted to go to $60 Mil. he wanted Rose as the lead, the studio wanted a star with the power to open a film. He refused to compromise, the studio put the film into turn-around.
This is a repeat performance for this ego driven director. He blew his chance to direct "Zorro" years ago over $5 Mil. All this from a man who once made a movie for $7000.00 and still claims that's the way everyone should make them. Looks like someone may be having a hard time living up to his own hype.
Until next time.
kisses,
The Dish

"Narnia" music review
Hey, I just looked on Amazon and there are 2 different CDs for the movie.
One is the shorter (music inspired by...) and the other has the score.
Then there are 3 songs on it as well. Alanis is on the score album, not on the soundtrack.
The actual soundtrack is all Christian artists - rock and softer rock. I'm listening to the sample right now and it sounds okay.
I didn't expect the score to be as classical as it was, but like I said last night, that is what kept me relaxed and into the movie. It put the "grown-up" into a children's novel. Special effects are a must, but I am a music person. If the music sucks, then it makes the movie suck for me.
I think I was expecting more "enchanted" songs, but from teen idols or the guy who sang clear through Tarzan(the cartoon). Although, I love that movie and his songs, it would have ruined Narnia. Some of the songs on the soundtrack are a little bit more like what I expected, but still a weird choice for this movie. The more I listen to it, the more ROCK I hear. Oh well. The soundtrack is just O.K. The score was wonderful - enchanted/magical & mature! Not fru-fru at all!
About Alanis' song: Someone mentioned that it was not what they were expecting for a theme song for Narnia.
I would have to agree. Although the choice of artist was unexpected, Alanis actually has the perfect voice for a movie like this. It's soft, but powerful and her uniqueness makes the song "magical" like the movie.
